Island life 26/10/2009
![]() Adventuring out of San Juan as we head east to the islands! Vieques and Culebra - both just as pristine and beautiful as each other. Life on the islands is chillin, laid back and in their own island life time zone. Beach after beach line the shores with shade being provided by coconut palm trees, there is a beach for everyone. With the waters crystal clear and calm, it was very easy for the day to slip away as you get hypnotized by the soft and gentle rocking of the waves as they roll up onto the shore. In Vieques we went to see the Bio Bay at night which was out of this world! We kayaked into the lake at 8pm and as the paddles travel through the water the bioluminescent dinoflagellates light up the water just like the stars in the sky. Try to imagine swimming in the universe amongst the light of millions of stars glittering in the galaxy moving as one as you do, truly one of natures gifts to humanity. ![]() The last few days have flown by and now i am one year older and perhaps a little wiser.... Moments are so precious, the quality of how you decide to live, breathe and feel in each moment is yours for the taking. I finished reading the book "The monk who sold his ferrari" and found one quote which i love "Dare to brush off your dreams" I love the visual image it brings to mind as old dreams loved moments ago sparkle, breathe and come to life, nourishing the inner child once again to BEcome the next super hero/ heroine and save the planet from global warming! The recent workshop with Doug Swenson was very insightful into how Yoga can support your individual flow, naturally. Our days driving around the island were spent moment to moment loving the freedom, space and spontaneity. The crystal clear blue ocean and soothing waves calming the mind and centering the soul, simplifying moments and listening between the breaths to what dreams may come, i saw a shooting star tonight after the sun had retired and wished for more moments like this! Yoga, Sand & Sweat 14/10/2009
![]() So in amongst the glorious sun and humidity of San Juan the sand gets everywhere! Swimming daily in the ocean and enjoying being a student of flow, last night i taught a class to the Puerto Rican Yoga tribe which felt great, they are a very open and responsive group of willing Yogis. It was a solar class so with a combination of the heat and the Yoga we were able to go deep into the asanas and honor any challenges which may have surfaced. Over the weekend we took a day trip into the El Yunque rainforest which was amazing! Full of lush vegetation, waterfalls and many trails which would capture any imagination. Apparently El Yunque is also a nominee for one of the new 7 natural wonders of the world! We made our way down the mountain after dark feeling completely energised from being in mother nature all day swimming in the creeks, admiring the scenery and taking photos for our two part Yoga, Rhythm & Dance! workshop which is happening on the 26th & 28th of October. But for now its time to pick up the rental car and head south for a few days! Sun, sun and more sun 10/10/2009
![]() The subject for my firs few days here has been the SUN! What a blessing to be in Puerto Rico, this is my first visit to the Caribbean and i was welcomed with open arms by a beautiful Yogi Glenisse who lives, works and teaches Yoga here. So my first night i went to her class and managed to follow and enjoy the Yoga class being taught in spanish. The following days were spent at the beach, going walking and enjoying being in a new environment. The sun, the giver of life force, warmth, joy and helping one to slow down and enjoy the moment. Doug Swenson is teaching a 3 day workshop here next weekend which i am happily going to plus on the 26th and 28th of October Glenisse and I will be teaching a workshop - more of this to come. So Puerto Rico, a place full of smiles, open hearts and coconuts! Emerging from the dancing universe 05/10/2009
![]() Before, during and after the full moon we danced into the transformative ever changing universe, pulsing and for ever changing moment to moment. Trance dance is a form of expression connecting the mind and the body, using music as a river guide and your heart the fire keeper. My short time at Kripaul has given me an insight into how communities can live a sustaining and healthy lifestyle. Namaskars to my teacher Shiva Rea for doing what she does and sharing her creation. Cleansing the past and BEing renewed for the present. The sun is out and the lake is glistening in the distance, it is now time to not be attached to what was and focus on what is. Trusting the guidance to the next destination towards the sun is a smooth transition. As Gabrielle Roth says "Movement is medicine and Rhythm is our universal mother tongue. Its the language of the soul". I encourage you to turn up the music and DaNcE! Kripalu! 02/10/2009
![]() Before we left Burlington/ Vermont we went to a Vinyasa class at the Evolution studio, it felt good to be a student again and be guided thought someone elses flow. The days are getting cooler and yes its still raining! We left Burlington after lunch and chai at the Dobra Tea house and began our journey back into the state of Massachusetts. The landscape is a true reflection of Autumn, the colours are a glow with bright reds, illuminous oranges and 100's of different shades of greens, with a lake here and there is a beautiful time of year. We arrive in Lenox quite late and found a Motel very easily to rest and prepare for the coming days of Yoga and Dance! Arriving a Kripalu felt like home away from home, its in amongst the Berkshire mountains with a lake and mountains in the distance. Yoga Trance Dance starts tonight! As the morning sun rises higher into the sky i can feel the essence of retreat settle into my soul, time to be and do what happens. OmShanti! | DelamayA journey with the rhythm of Yoga and Dance..
